Quantum computing leader IonQ has opened the United States’ first quantum computing manufacturing facility located in Bothell, Washington. The 105,000-square-foot facility will serve as IonQ’s second quantum data center providing cloud access for customers. It will also house the company’s expanding R&D and manufacturing teams working on new systems like the IonQ Forte Enterprise and IonQ Tempo.

As the first factory in the U.S. to manufacture replicable and deployable quantum computers for customer data centres, it cements the Pacific Northwest as a hub for innovation and technology. IonQ plans to create thousands of jobs leveraging the region’s skilled workforce.

The opening aligns with IonQ’s commitment to commercializing quantum computing and making systems accessible to more customers. U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell, a supporter of science and tech research, praised IonQ’s quantum innovation during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This announcement comes after several IonQ achievements including meeting a quantum volume goal early and expanding partnerships with Amazon Braket. IonQ currently works with corporations like Hyundai, Airbus, and GE to apply quantum to complex problems.

In addition to on-premises solutions, IonQ systems are available on Amazon Braket, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and direct API access. The company aims to make quantum computing increasingly impactful and accessible.
